I am an artist living in Alaska and I hope I capture the beauty of Alaska in my paintings. I work in a variety of mediums. I've primarily used watercolor. But, I've painted with acrylic, gouache, pastel, and casein (information here). In addition, I've worked with sumi-e, woodblock prints, iPad drawings, and style transfer (using machine learning, AI) on the computer. My goal is to produce art that others enjoy viewing. I retired at the end of 2022 and now concentrate on making art!
I've completed a military career, graduated from college, worked in sales for nearly fifteen years, and now dedicate all my time to art. The military brought me to Alaska and I knew within days that this is where I wanted to live. I never tire of the beauty I find in the mountains. I enjoy being in the wilderness and hope I share and convey those feelings in my paintings.
My art education has included numerous workshops, lessons, and participation in a variety of groups and organizations. Over the past 30 years I've taken numerous classes and have learned much from many local artists in Alaska. Those that have taught me include Diane Gill, Suzanne Bach Edwards, Andy Sonneborn, Don Kolstad, Jean Shadrach, Andy Dunham, Vladimir Zhikhartsev, and all those that are part of the Saturday art group. In addition, various members of the Alaska Watercolor Society have informed me over the years.
I've displayed art at the Alaska Watercolor Society's member shows, the Moose Pass Summer Solstice Festival, on the gallery wall in Estes Brother's Grocery Moose Pass, AK, and at the member show for the International Gallery of Contemporary Art, Anchorage, AK.
